This CPD course supports practitioners to recognise, understand, and respond effectively to child exploitation in all its forms. It explores how exploitation is a safeguarding issue, helping professionals identify children and young people who may be at risk while understanding the complex methods used by perpetrators to groom, manipulate, and control them.
The course examines the different forms of child exploitation, including child sexual exploitation (CSE), child criminal exploitation (CCE), county lines, online exploitation, trafficking, and modern slavery. It explores vulnerability factors, indicators of concern, the impact of trauma, and the importance of recognising patterns of behaviour rather than viewing incidents in isolation.
There is a strong focus on professional practice. Practitioners will develop confidence in identifying risk, applying professional curiosity, recording concerns accurately, sharing information appropriately, and working effectively with partner agencies to safeguard children. The course also highlights the importance of disruption strategies, contextual safeguarding, child-centred practice, and supporting children beyond immediate intervention to reduce the risk of further exploitation.
This course is suitable for professionals working in residential childcare, education, social care, youth services, fostering, health, and wider safeguarding roles, supporting ongoing CPD and reflective practice.
A certificate is issued upon successful completion, with a minimum pass mark of 80%.
