This CPD course explores child exploitation as a safeguarding issue affecting children and young people across all childcare settings, including early years, schools, residential care, youth work, and community provision.

It examines how exploitation develops through grooming, coercion, and control, and why children may not recognise themselves as victims. The course covers child sexual exploitation, child criminal exploitation, county lines, online harm, missing episodes, and contextual safeguarding.

Learners will develop the ability to recognise signs and patterns of exploitation, apply professional curiosity, respond appropriately to concerns, and work effectively with other agencies to reduce harm. The course also emphasises the importance of non-blaming, child-centred language and accurate recording.

This CPD is suitable for all childcare practitioners, support staff, safeguarding leads, and professionals working with children and young people.

A certificate is issued upon successful completion, with a minimum pass mark of 80%.

Duration: Approximately 100 - 125 minutes

This course is designed at a Level 3 standard to support practitioner-level understanding.
It is a CPD activity and does not form part of a regulated qualification.
